San Sebastian, Spain — October 23rd-24th, 2025
The eighth edition of Glycobasque, held on October 23–24 in San Sebastian, once again brought together leading minds in the world of glycoscience for two days of cutting-edge research, inspiring discussions, and scientific collaboration about glycoscience.
This year’s event featured an outstanding lineup of speakers:
- Martina Delbianco (Max Planck Institute) explored new frontiers in carbohydrate structures through the generation of foldamers and assemblies.
- Lars Nitschke (Friedrich-Alexander-Universität) discussed the roles of sialoglycans and Siglecs on lymphocytes.
- June Ereño-Orbea (CIC bioGUNE) shared structural insights into targeting the Siglec–sialoglycan axis.
- Xuefei Huang (Michigan State University) presented advances in the development of next-generation carbohydrate vaccines.
The event also offered lectures from other highligthed reserachers like Celso Reis ( I3S, Porto), Henrique Duarte (I3S ,Porto), Prof. Roger Laire (Louisiana University, USA), Ana Gimeno (CiC BIOgune, Spain); and many more.
Throughout the event, Glycobasque reaffirmed its role as a key forum for knowledge exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration within the glycoscience community.
As part of the program, Ander Eguskiza Bilbao, PhD, Technical Marketing Manager at Asparia Glycomics, presented the company’s latest capabilities and innovations. His talk highlighted Asparia Glycomics’ expanding contributions to the field — particularly in custom glycan synthesis and glycan analysis — and its commitment to supporting the global research community.
