Itziar Otazo
Senior Research Chemist
Itziar joined Asparia in 2022 as a Senior Research Chemist in the Custom Synthesis team. She is involved in the synthesis of complex glycans, using both chemical and chemoenzymatic routes. In her additional role as Lab manager, Itziar takes care of maintaining our Synthesis Laboratory safe and fully operative.
Itziar is a synthetic chemist with ample experience in Stereoselective Organic Chemistry, and biophysics and characterization of biomaterials. From 2014-2022 Itziar worked as a researcher at the Biophysics Institute at BOKU, Vienna and later as lab manager and technical assistant in the Department of Pharmaceutical and Biopharmaceutical Technology of the University of Vienna
Itziar earned her PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from the University of the Basque Country, Spain in 2013.
